"Valarmathi Mess the most famous accross from celebrities to makkal. Delivers on flavor but demands patience. I arrived at 2:50pm and only got a seat by 4:00pm, in that waiting period got to see Priyaatlee(Director Atlee's wife), she came for the lunch and she got the direct entry 😜 as always for celebrities every where, waiting time reflects how intense the crowd can be. The waiting area is unprofessional, and there’s no clear queue system—just a rush of hungry patrons hoping to be called next.
Once seated, the food does redeem the wait. The Vanjaram Shallow Fry was fiery and aromatic, the mutton keema ball had a satisfying texture and taste, and the Mutton biryani tastes rich, complex, and deeply flavorful, with tender, juicy meat infused with aromatic spices, creating a luxurious, hearty, and often spicy meal that's savory and aromatic. Everything was served on banana leaves, adding a ceremonial touch. The menu leans heavily on Kongunadu non-veg staples, and the taste is perpetually home-style and bold.
The pricing falls in the ₹100–₹400 range per dish, and for my opinion it’s ok comparatively as most hyped places, the portions are generous and the flavors justify the cost.
The ambience is very basic. It’s a mess-style setup with tight seating, minimal decor, and average cleanliness. You’re here for the food, not the comfort. Service is quick but impersonal, likely due to the volume of customers.
Valarmathi Mess is worth visiting once for its heritage and bold flavors, especially if you’re a fan of Kongu cuisine. But be warned: the waiting time, lack of comfort, and chaotic crowd can make it a one-time experience rather than a regular. Come early, come hungry, and come with patience😊."

"Valarmathi Mess is definitely a go-to spot in Coimbatore if you love authentic non-veg dishes. Their mutton kola urundai, pichu potta kozhi, kudal fry, mutton nalli, and especially the non-veg meals stand out with rich flavours and true traditional taste. The consistency in their cooking and the quality of the meat dishes make it a strong favourite for non-veg lovers.
However, there are a few areas that need improvement. The space feels a bit congested, especially during peak hours, which makes dining slightly uncomfortable. Hand-wash access becomes difficult when the place is very crowded. Also, the staff’s customer handling could be better, especially in terms of communication and service flow.
Overall, great taste and authentic dishes, but with a bit more space management and improved service, the experience can be even better."

"Earn: 1986…. Food was awesome, local flavor. Queue during lunch time, wait time 20-30 mins.. mutton biryani,(mutton was very tender, biryani taste was good, balanced spicy) pallipalayam chicken (different flavor with chunks of coconut), And Kola ( minced mutton fried balls). Service was fast once seated, parking may be a little concern but manageable."
