"I visited Hotel Pankayam near Palayam on last Sunday, 9th around 5:30 PM, and unfortunately, the overall service experience was disappointing.
We ordered chicken fried rice, chicken noodles, appam, parotta, prawns fry, chilly mushroom, chicken perattu, and chicken thengapal curry. When we arrived, there were no other guests in the restaurant. Although we were informed there would be a 30-minute delay, we ended up waiting 45 minutes to almost 1 hour for the food.
We even ordered tea and coffee, assuming those would be served quickly, but that too got delayed. What felt especially unacceptable was that two guests who arrived after us were served their food before us, even though we had been waiting much longer.
When the delay crossed 45 minutes, we had to ask them directly whether we should leave if the food wasn’t ready yet.
On a positive note, the food quality and taste were genuinely good, which made the experience slightly better.
I have visited the old Pankayam near Medical College several times and never faced such issues there. This was my first visit to the Palayam branch, though others in my group had been here before and had good experiences. Unfortunately, this time the service fell short of expectations, even though the food itself was worth appreciating."
"I don’t know where to begin the review for this one. We were looking for an authentic Kerala diner during our campus placement visit. After a lot of search, we settled for this which we found to have good reviews ok Google.
My first impression was — this is a place meant for youngsters and college-going students, definitely not the typical choice for corporate teams visiting from outside, like those who aren’t local. We looked totally out of place there. The crowd stared 😅
We were exhausted after a long flight, so we decided to settle in and give it a try. The tea stall outside was a pleasant; good and pocket-friendly.
The seating was quite old and basic. The seating areas were compartmentalised and we even had to pull in extra chairs to fit our group comfortably. The food was okayish; nothing extraordinary, but the staff was genuinely eager to serve us, which was appreciated.
Overall, this is a go-to place for students and a good spot for a casual evening hangout with friends. Kind of a tea/ coffee and then dinner place.
Will recommend for trying and if you like it then go again."

"I don't know why people give it more stars. Its not worthy. Here's a bill. Check out the prices. We looked at the menu; one biriyani 300 and a beef roast is 349; which is very expensive than other restaurants. A normal chappathi 20 and a porotta 25. This restaurant works in container boxes, the smell inside is not fine. No hygiene. You have to wait atleast 30 minutes. Beef roast was too much spicy and had sourness; it felt like it was stale. Its not worthy to try atleast once."

"❌ PANKAYAM RESTAURANT: AVOID! Disgusting Hygiene & Subpar Everything! 🤮
Listen up, folks. I'm telling you now, DO NOT GO HERE. Save your time, save your money, and definitely save your good mood.
💰 Cold Food & Zero Value
This place is aggressively overpriced for the experience. The food quality was shockingly bad—it was served cold and completely lacked flavor. Honestly, the value proposition here is zero.
🤢 The Unacceptable Dealbreaker
The service was terrible. The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, showing a massive lack of attention which made the whole experience genuinely uncomfortable.
But here's the absolute worst part: The serving guy's wristband/hand-tie DIPPED straight into the food while serving. Srsly, YUCK. 🤢 That level of hygiene disregard is stomach-turning and unacceptable.
🛑 Consequences
Due to the terrible quality (cold, tasteless, and wristband-touched), we were forced to cancel two dishes from the bill. Also, note that the menu options are limited, with no larger portions available.
Final Warning: We absolutely would not recommend Pankayam Restaurant to anyone. To my friends and anyone visiting Thiruvananthapuram: THIS IS NOT IT. Choose an alternative spot. Honestly, even if you’re starving, stay hungry rather than waste your cash and mood here. You've been warned! ✌️
