"If you are craving the authentic soul food of God’s Own Country without burning a hole in your pocket, this local Kerala mess is an absolute hidden gem. It captures the essence of a traditional "thattukada" vibe combined with the comfort of a home-cooked meal.
The Star of the Show: The Meals
The highlight here is undoubtedly the Kerala Meals. Served on a clean plate (or a traditional banana leaf if you're lucky), the parboiled red rice is perfectly cooked—fluffy and warm. It comes accompanied by a rotating cast of classic sides: a tangy pulissery, a comforting olalan, and a vibrant thoran that tastes like it was prepared by someone’s grandmother. The sambar is thick and aromatic, hitting those nostalgic notes of roasted coconut and spices.
Must-Try Add-ons
While the base meal is satisfying, the experience isn't complete without the sides:
Fresh Fish Fry: The fish is clearly the "catch of the day." Marinated in a fiery, ginger-garlic-heavy masala and shallow-fried to crispy perfection, the flesh remains flaky and moist inside.
The Double Omelette: This is a non-negotiable order. It’s massive, fluffy, and loaded with chopped green chilies, onions, and crushed black pepper. It acts as the perfect savory companion to the rice and gravy.
Value for Money
What makes this place truly stand out is the unbeatable pricing. In an era where dining out is becoming increasingly expensive, finding such high-quality, fresh food at these rates feels like a steal. It is the definition of "cheap eats" where quality isn't sacrificed for the price.
Final Verdict
The ambiance is no-frills and can get quite busy during peak lunch hours, but the quick service and incredible flavors make every minute of the wait worth it. Whether you are a local or just passing through, this mess is a testament to the fact that the best food is often found in the simplest places"
"One of those gems where the locals go purely for the food— and it does not disappoint (most tourist don't know about this place). While the place isn't particularly aesthetic or fancy, and it’s usually quite crowded, that only speaks to how popular and loved it is by locals. It’s simple, satisfying, and full of authentic flavors. Guruvayoor cafe is the place if you’re in mysore and want a taste of authentic Kerala cuisine without the frills. Just be ready for a bit of a wait during peak hours — but trust me, it’s worth it.
People whoever have criticised doesn't release what is good and bad .The food which we get from Guruvayoor Cafe is 100% homely with the purity and high end hygiene.
They prepare and serve only fresh food .So we should have patience and thank them for serving such an excellent food serving at the freshness outside kerala. And it's hard to get kerala meals in banana leaf as a mini sadya for 70/- .It's sn amazing fact of high quality and affordable price.
The food is absolutely top-notch. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor, fresh, and clearly made with care. The seafood was especially impressive — cooked perfectly and seasoned just right.
Service was quick despite the rush, and the staff handled the crowd professionally. If you're looking for a calm, fine-dining experience, this might not be your scene — but if you're after truly delicious, authentic food at a great price, Guruvqyoor Cafe is 100% worth it."
