"Visited The Coastal Taste on Santhome High Road and had a mixed experience. The highlights were definitely the Kantari Beef, which was tender, spicy, and loaded with flavor, and the Aleppy Coconut Prawn Roast, where the prawns were fresh and the coconut gravy was delicious. The Squid-65 was also outstanding crispy, well-seasoned, and served hot.
However, the Fish Pollichathu was a disgrace it was dry and lacked flavor. Both the Beef and Prawn Dum Biryani were even worse, as neither had any unique taste. It honestly felt like they just used the same biryani rice and arbitrarily topped them with either prawn or beef pieces at the time of serving. This really took away from the uniqueness expected from these dishes.
While there are definitely some gems on the menu like the Kantari Beef, Coconut Prawn, and the Squid fry, the inconsistency (especially in the biryani and fish pollichathu) leaves room for improvement."

"Tried this place in Mylapore and the food was excellent. The parotta was soft and flaky, and the curries had amazing flavor with just the right spice level. Everything tasted fresh and well balanced. Definitely a spot worth visiting if you’re craving good parotta and tasty curries."

"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Extraordinary Experience!
A huge thanks to Aman, Chandrakant, and the entire staff of Coastal Taste Family Restaurant for their outstanding service! They treat every customer like their own family, making the whole experience warm and memorable.
The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The best part is that everything is affordable with high-value quality and generous portions. The atmosphere is cozy, service is quick, and everyone serves with a smile.
If I come to Chennai again, I’ll definitely visit this restaurant once more — and let this be a sweet reminder for the Coastal Taste team! 💫
Highly recommend this place for great food, excellent service, and genuine care. Truly one of the best restaurants around! 🌟🍽️💯

"I recently visited The Coastal Taste Family Restaurant hoping to get a taste of authentic Kerala cuisine. The place has a simple, family-style setup, nothing fancy, but comfortable enough for a relaxed meal.
We started with the nandu rasam (crab rasam). It was warm and flavourful, but the crab didn’t come through; it felt like it had been added later rather than cooked into the rasam.
The karimeen pollichathu was definitely the standout, fresh fish, well-spiced, and well-cooked. We also tried the jumbo prawn roast and beef ularthiyathu. Both had potential but needed a bit more attention to seasoning.
The kappa and fish curry combo was decent, the kappa was nice, but the fish curry tasted more Tamil than Kerala, missing those typical Kerala spice notes. We also tried the non-veg Kerala meals which were quite elaborate (fish curry, fry, chicken curry, a couple of veggies, rasam, moru, rice, papadam, payasam). Generous, but again, the flavours felt more like a mix of Kerala and Tamil styles.
To be fair, the menu is quite diverse, it includes Chettinad food, Arabic grills, biryani, shawarma, chaat, Chinese, pizza, and pasta. So if you’re going with a group that has varied preferences, this place works.
If you're specifically after traditional Kerala food, set your expectations right. But for a casual meal with lots of options, it's a decent stop."
